Gherry was inspired by rapidly growing elderly population on the global level, and motivated by helping in their care.
Thus the name, derived form “geriatrics”, the branch of medicine studying the diseases and care of aged persons and problems of aging.
THE BIGGER PICTURE
The issues that arise from ageing and from the loss of independence in daily activities, as a direct consequence of the inevitable health decline, are well known. What is novel is how the modern ways of living with the new organizational and structural changes in our societies are influencing the care of seniors. Taking in account the exponential growth in their numbers and the increase in demand of related health and care services, it is obvious that there is a necessity to make the changes in the way how we care of our ageing people.
WHAT INSPIRED GHERRY?
Organizing care can be particularly difficult, not only for the elderly but for anyone who receives and provides care, regardless of the age. We all have experienced it, will experience it someday, or know people who have. It’s a path filled with many responsibilities and challenges.
Despite various improvements, not many substantial actions have been taken to help the people who need help with care and caregiving daily. There is a lack of efficient tools to help with different long-term care and caregiving issues in the family and home environment.
Gherry was born to help change that narrative.

Our journey began with a life-changing objective: to inspire and enhance a better care for everyone.
As a team of thinkers, innovators, creators, and entrepreneurs who were facing the problems related to ageing and caregiving firsthand, we wanted to help ease these problems, not only for ourselves but also for all others. Although we initially started with the idea of helping in the care of seniors, we accordingly expanded our focus and elaborated on our app and its features to make it suitable for all persons who receive and provide care, no matter the age.
